"Our advancements are not free concessions, but conquests, which are the result of the struggle of generations of Black people."

From resistance and activism, we raise our voices to demand justice, equality, and reparations, honouring the memory of our ancestors, who were stripped of their own humanity and freedom. It has been a decades-long battle against the erasure of a history steeped in blood, oppression, and subjugation, of a people that crossed oceans and continents to form the African diaspora. This diaspora inherits a rich spiritual and cultural background but also the sad legacy of slavery and colonialism, which carries with it systematic exclusion, poverty, and all forms of violence and discrimination.

It has been extensively argued that the realities of exclusion, poverty, erasure, and underdevelopment faced by Afrodescendants and Africans are directly related to the aftermath of the unacceptable, immoral, unjust, and despicable colonization and enslavement of millions of people over more than three centuries.
