Global Coalition Against Systemic Racism and for Reparations
We are a Global Antiracist Community that brings together actors, sectors, institutions, organizations, companies, and individuals to promote a culture that ensures dignity and generates reparative responses for victims of racism.
Our Pillars
Openly recognize yourself as a part of the global community that is committed to the eradication of racism by taking concrete shared action with other Coalition members.
Respect the victims of systemic racism by providing them with social, legal and emotional support according to their demands and perspectives.
Research and learn about the various manifestations of racism and listen carefully and respectfully to its victims, to be able to effectively counteract the false narratives that minimize systemic racism.
Use, maximize, promote and disseminate information that demonstrates the reality of systemic exclusion of Afro-descendants, in order to be able to transform this reality with concrete actions and programs.
Our Story
The Global Coalition Against Racism was presented on August 31, 2021, within the framework of the first commemoration of the International Day of People of African Descent. The Coalition was founded by the former Vice President of Costa Rica, Dr. Epsy Campbell Barr, who presented a powerful Decalogue of Commitments, which must be signed by all its members and adherents.
This coalition is born in response to the systemic racism faced by Afro-descendant peoples and communities, as well as a mechanism to propel actions that contribute to transforming the reality of exclusion and discrimination experienced by Afro-descendant peoples and communities as a result of this scourge.
As the International Decade for People of African Descent (2015-2024), proclaimed by the United Nations, nears its conclusion, there is a need to accelerate efforts to fulfill all commitments made by Member States and civil society through the recognized program of activities outlined in this declaration, in a spirit of recognition, justice, and development for Afro-descendant individuals. Additionally, there are other international instruments that form a broad and robust legal framework for the recognition and development of Afro-descendant peoples worldwide. These include the Declaration and Programme of Action of Durban (2002) and the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination (1969), along with a series of international and regional treaties and agreements reaffirmed by national and subnational legislations and policies in dozens of countries.
Decalogue of Action Against Racism
The decalogue of actions proposed by the Global Coalition Against Systemic Racism and for Reparations is a series of fundamental principles in the fight against racial discrimination and the promotion of equal rights and opportunities for all individuals, regardless of their ethnic or racial background. These ten actions encapsulate the principles and commitments necessary to advance towards a fairer and more inclusive society.
